My best play for live racing Sunday
(Also, a couple Friday plays at Hollywood)

With live racing beginning Sunday at 1 p.m., I'll be focusing primarily on live racing as the season progresses. But I know some of you have been depending on a play or two for Friday night so I have a couple for you at Hollywood tonight, too.

SUNDAY LIVE, MAY 9: ASD
|
Race 2 -- #8 Adair County. Morning line: 3-1. Post time 1:30 p.m. Speed is what's mainly important since races are only 5f dashes and this horse has speed to spare. Notice two pace numbers of 140 and 143 at Fonner Park. And Adair County obviously has a conditioning edge, having raced on April 25. A three-time leading jockey, Rohan Singh, is in the saddle which doesn't hurt either.

FRIDAY NIGHT, MAY 7: Hollywood
|
(1) Race 4 -- #2 So Nice. Morning line 2-1. Post time 10:29 p.m. Gate to wire prospect after showing lots of speed on Santa's turf course. I'd also play a saver exactor 4-2 in case Jeff Mullins' first time starter has some grit.
(2) Race 7 -- #1 Don't Answer. Morning line 8-1. Post time 11:53 p.m. Ambitiously-placed horse. Trainer has elevated him into $40,000 claiming race after winning a softer $25,000 nw 2L. But, once again, this horse has lots of speed and, after seeing a 70-1 horse from Los Alamitos go gate to wire in a 1 1/16 mile race at Hollywood Thursday, I'm thinking this horse could also pull the upset at 8-1 or better.

LAST WEEK: Charles Town pick won but a low odds: 4-5.

| Come to my "learn the secrets" stage just inside the main entrance at the Downs Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Lots of "dead" money will be around that day from inexperienced horseplayers.
