Along with the live thoroughbred racing offered
from May to September each year, Assiniboia Downs
is also one of the most popular “year-round” dining and entertainment spots in Winnipeg and Manitoba.
During the live racing season, the Terrace Dining
Room provides great à la carte menu or buffet
dining each race night and fabulous buffet brunches
every Sunday and holiday race day afternoon with
a great view of the racetrack and the live race
cards.
The Terrace Dining Room features a variety of delicious
buffets or à la carte service
each race day evening, while a sumptuous afternoon
brunch is served every Sunday and Holiday race day
afternoon.
Freshly prepared ingredients, quality food, superbly
presented by courteous serving staff provides exceptional
entertainment value at moderate prices and is always
a great dining experience.
The tempting evening buffets offers a variety of
fresh fruit and vegetable salads, home-baked breads
and buns, rice, pasta, and potato dishes, and hot
entrees that include seafood, poultry, and prime
rib or beef tenderloin carved in the room.
The main course is always topped off with a mouth-watering
selection of homemade desserts, including a variety
of cheesecakes, black forest cake, trifles, pies,
tortes, custards, fresh fruit trays and international
treats as well.
And the Terrace Dining Room also offers great buffet
dining on those special occasions including Mother's
Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving and New Year’s
Eve. The Terrace Dining Room is sold out well in
advance of these special occasions so make your

Sunday and
Holiday Brunches are also a great way to dine and
enjoy the races
Every Sunday and Holiday afternoon race day, the
afternoon brunch in the Terrace Dining Room is another
great way to dine and watch the live thoroughbred
racing action. A wide and varied menu of popular
brunch dining choices include fresh fruit and vegetable
salads, cheese and fruit trays along with hot entrees
of beef or chicken. As well, the traditional breakfast
fare includes, bacon, sausages, ham, scrambled eggs,
hash browns and waffles with sumptuous topping,
plus made to order omelets. Reservations are a must
so call the General Office at 885-3330.
Thursday Evening
International Buffets Featured “Year-Round”
International Buffets are featured every Thursday
evening “year-round” in the Terrace
Dining Room. These specialty international buffets
provide diners with the opportunity to experience
tastes and dishes from all over the world. Some
of the more popular international food fare featured
includes dishes from Greece, Italy, Mexico, the
Orient, and the British Isles, along with Caribbean
and Cajun themes and the always-popular Irish Night.

Race
Presentation Packages for Individual Celebrations
or Group Outing
If you are planning an individual birthday, anniversary
or family celebration or group outing makes the
event even more special with a “Race Presentation
Package”.
In addition to the race being recognized in the
race program, you will join the winning horse and
his ownership group in the Winners’ Circle.
Two engraved plaques are provided, one to present
to the winning owner, trainer and jockey of ‘Your”
race and the second is yours to keep as a memento
of your day at the racetrack. You will also receive
an 8” by 10” photograph of the race
presentation. As this race presentation package
requires advanced planning please contact us at
885-3330 and ask to speak with our Group Co-ordinator
to order this package. It is an exciting way to
spend your day or evening dining at Assiniboia Downs.
Open
Year Round
Assiniboia Downs is truly your "year round"
entertainment, hospitality, and exhibition centre.
Open year round (but closed Christmas Day), the
"live" thoroughbred racing season begins
Friday, May 2 and will feature 70 days of live
racing, concluding on Sunday, September 21, 2008.
Live races are featured on Tuesday (July 8, 15 & 22), Friday and Saturday evenings with
a Post Time of 7:00 p.m. Sunday and Holiday afternoons,
Post Time is 1:00 p.m. (Holidays Monday, May 19, Tuesday, July 1, Monday, August 4 & Monday, September 1).
Clubhouse & Sports Book
Once the "live" season concludes, Assiniboia
Downs remains open and features simulcast pari-mutuel
wagering on full card thoroughbred and harness racing
from all the major North American tracks and Australia.
These simulcast races are viewed on large television
monitors in the fully licensed Club West Gaming
Lounge and our modern Sports Book area, also located
on the second floor. The Club West Gaming Lounge
is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00
a.m. and features 140 VLT's.
Full Live and Simulcast Coverage
on Shaw Cable Channel 87 & MTS TV Channel 179 & 180.
In addition to the live and simulcast racing coverage
offered at Assiniboia Downs, the Manitoba Jockey
Club is pleased to be able to offer the daily "live"
and year-long full card simulcast coverage from
Assiniboia Downs to all Shaw Cable subscribers on
Channel 87 & MTS TV Channel 179 & 180.
Fine Dining and Great Facilities
When it comes to fine dining, Assiniboia Downs features
two excellent licensed facilities to choose from.
All new and delicious menus are featured in the
licensed Terrace Dinning Room overlooking the racetrack,
or the Club West Gaming Lounge. In the Terrace Dining
Room make a selection from our dining room menu,
or try our famous dinner buffet. And don't miss
the extraordinary Sunday brunches while enjoying
a breathtaking view of the racetrack. It's a great
way to entertain business clients or the whole family
and enjoy a leisurely day or evening at the races.
Special Group Get-Togethers
If you are planning a group outing, we will help
you decide the best plans for your group event and
assist in providing and planning all the details.
Our host or hostess will greet your party when they
arrive and be at your service throughout the duration
of your event. A race will be named in honour of
your visit and will be commemorated with an engraved
plaque and a photo of your group's representative,
with the winning horse. Another engraved plaque
will be presented to the winning owner of "your"
race. For groups of twenty or more we offer delicious
meals in the Terrace Dining Room, Finish Line Banquet
Room, or on the outdoor Patio trackside.
Trade Show, Exhibition and
Banquet/Wedding Reception Facilities
Assiniboia Downs also offers many great opportunities
for social events including corporate hosting, office
parties, wedding receptions, banquets, trade and/or
exhibition shows. In addition to the Terrace Dining
Room, which accommodates parties of 250, the Main
Floor area features 24,500 square feet and can accommodate
up to 800 for a sit down dinner, banquets, exhibitions
and trade show activities.
The Finish Line Banquet Room
Located on the lower level provides another 4,860
square feet, and is ideal for smaller banquets,
receptions and exhibits, as well as smaller group
meetings or seminars. Our Executive Chef, Director
of Food and Beverage Services and Director of Group
Sales are all available for consultation and planning
of special menus and food and beverage requirements.
