Next Hollywood Starlet could be a country girl

Hollywood Park Race 8 – The Hollywood Starlet (G1), Saturday

Country Star , trained by Bobby Frankel, was the impressive winner of the Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland back in October. Coming into the final turn at Keeneland, she went eight wide to win going away. Will she repeat her award winning performance this time?

She might need a little help. With her big finishing kick, she needs to have a decent pace to run after and there are a couple of fillies that like the front, but not any of graded stakes caliber.

Foxy Danseur and Spritely look to be the pace, however, Grace Anatomy, who finished third in the Alcibiades, will have an easy stalking trip and could be very dangerous.

After a disappointing trip on a very sloppy track in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, Grace Anatomy will be looking to re-capture her form in this race. The number two post will also set her up to be in great position to stalk the leaders throughout the back and come charging home.

This could be a two horse race. However, it will be interesting to see if Spritely, who has won both of her two starts, can handle the upgrade in competition.

Snowbirds invade La Prevoyante Handicap

Calder Race 8 – La Prevoyante (G2), Saturday

The migration south has begun. Woodbine trainers have taken up shop in Florida along with several east coasters the La Prevoyante is one of the first big stakes to see them.

I’m In Love , who finished second the Maple Leaf at Woodbine in November, has two seconds in a row after a win in the Rosenberger Memorial at Delaware Park . Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, I’m In Love has not gone 1 ½ before and several others have including Dalvina, Eres Magica, Green Girl, and Jive.

My Rachel ran her first 1 ½ route in her last start at Aqueduct. She could improve this time out. Finishing third behind Dalvina, Edgar Prado looked to have moved a little too early and got caught. Prado will not make the same mistake.
