Prizes: Winner gets $50, spectacular book on geese and copious bragging rights.
Top 50: The top 50 (closest to the correct date without going over) will receive a Canada goose key chain with a key attached. If that key opens a treasure chest containing $500, the money belongs to the person who opens it. Everyone who tries his or her key in the treasure chest gets a $10 voucher to bet the horses.
Tie-breaker: If more than one person predicts the correct date, the tied entrants will compete in a game of rock/paper/scissors in the Clubhouse to determine the winner. The runners-up will receive gifts as well.
Last year, the geese left the Assiniboia Downs infield to head south on
Nov. 8.

(When will geese be seen on video screen above? The geese sleep in the infield overnight then come and go throughout the day, sometimes leaving for long periods of time, likely to feed in a farmer's field or go to a place with water. Last year, they spent some time in front of the tote board in the afternoons munching on freshly sprouted grass. We are looking for equipment that will provide a closer view of their activities.)
