In what was to be a two horse race, Miss Missile was able to blast the field including post time favourite Polynesian Kitty in the $30,000 Canada Day Stakes.
Trained by Texan Charlie Smith, Miss Missile made every poll a winning one, making the Canada Day Stakes the third stakes victory for the connections of Miss Missile, Charlie Smith and rider Rohan Singh. “I just let her do her thing early,” said Singh, “I gave her a little smooch at about the three eights pole, and the race was on.”
Polynesian Kitty, trained by Jamie Ness, sat third down the backstretch just outside of Talkin Money Honey. The three time stakes winner began to pick it up at the beginning of the final turn, but was not able to catch the wire to wire winner in an all out drive down the stretch.
