Since coming to Assiniboia Downs from Woodbine in Toronto, Rock'N USA has been absolutely perfect winning four races in four starts. Trained by Tanya Lindsay, the 5year-old gelding by Suggest took the seventh on Sunday afternoon which featured some of the best older horses on the grounds prepping for the 2008 Wheat City Stakes on Monday, August 4.
Sitting second down the backstretch behind early leader Tug 0' War, Rock'N USA began his move at the top of the turn and overtook the leader coming into the stretch. Midway through the stretch, Rock'N USA seemed to have the race in hand and was able to hold off a fast closing Charley Tango.
Charley Tango, trained by Martin Drexler, sat in the back of the pack early and didn't get moving until the top of the stretch. With the skillful riding of jockey Rohan Singh, Charley Tango was able to weave through horses coming for home and took dead aim on the leader in late stretch, but could not get by the leader.
Arthurlooksgood, winner of the 2007 Wheat City Stakes, was able to sit just behind Rock'N USA most of the way, moving in the middle of the turn with the eventual winner, however was not able to catch him or hold off the charge of Charlie Tango.
