Smart Sapphire engulfs the field in the Manitoba Speed Horse Derby
Shiney Royal Cash, trained by Bill Fitzgerald was off to a quick start and looked to have the 400 yards in hand, but it was the huge strides of Smart Sapphire that got the job done.
Smart Sapphire, trained by Reynold Cote from Marquis Downs in Saskatchewan, tore up the track after a slow start and caught the leader in the final strides. Smart Sapphire is now four of four in the money this year.
