Rock’n USA a symbol of perfection!
Perfect since coming to Assiniboia Downs, Rock’n USA continued to show his dominance of the sprint races for older horses, pulling away from a talented pack in Saturday’s allowance feature.
Trained by Tanya Lindsay, Rock’n USA was in total control throughout after getting a short lead on Great Discovery down the backstretch. Pulling away from the tightly bunched pack going into the turn, “the Rock” was well in hand with leading rider Alan Cuthbertson aboard and won by more than 2 lengths.
The 5-year-old son of Suggest has now made more that $46,000 here at Assiniboia Downs this year in going undefeated in five races.
Illusive Force, last year’s winner of the Free Press Stakes, was able to sit in behind the leaders down the back. Illusive Force, trained by Carl Anderson, saved ground along the rail through the turn and rallied for second.
Illusive Force came into this race off a third place finish in this year’s Free Press Stakes and a fourth place finish behind “the Rock on July 6.
Gold Lad, trained by Tom Gardipy, went three wide around the turn and was a fast closing third, but was not able to catch the winner. Claimed for $15,000 in his last start from trainer Jim Fergason, Gold Lad had finished second in his last two starts.
