Heavenly win for Prayforthesoldiers
In an eerie connection as the bodies of the latest Canadian soldiers were en route back to Canada, Prayforthesoldiers, a 2-year-old son of Lost Soldier, surprised everyone winning the 17 Wing Purse on Friday night. 17 Wing Winnipeg, an organization that conducts and supports flying operations for the Canadian Forces, were out at the races on their annual staff function and were in the winner’s circle for the presentation.
Trained by Aaron Sayler, Prayforthesoldiers overcame heavy traffic in the backstretch, saved ground along the rail in the final turn and got up for the win in the final strides. Prayforthesoldiers outfinished both favourites, Beauty For Ashes and Dreamin N Schemin in the race and paid $23.10 to win on a $2 win ticket. An unexpected tribute to Canadian Troops fighting in the Middle East.
