Rebelmec captures $50,000 for Paul Gray
Long time regular and expert show parlayer Paul Gray, 59, saw his days at the track this year pay off as number 10 Rebelmec – a horse he was randomly matched with – fly across the wire first in the final race of the 70 day season.
Throughout the season, Assiniboia Downs qualified 139 others who wished they were in Paul’s shoes through their Show Parlay Challenge. Paul Gray was then one of 11 people randomly matched with a horse in the last race.
A retired courier, Paul Gray attended Assiniboia Downs all 70 days of live racing and had qualified three times in the contest. Gray spends his time looking after his parents and says a new red Mustang convertible is in his future.
“I will probably also go on a trip,” said Gray when asked what he will do with all the money, “probably Cancun.”
After he comes home from the beach, maybe we will see a red mustang driving around Winnipeg with a customized license plate 102 SHW giving homage to his now favourite horse?
