Sunday afternoon put the Manitoba breds in the spotlight for the $ 50,000 Agassiz stakes at one mile. Once again the race was dominated by a favourite. Brinello, out of the Carl Anderson barn, took home the hardware in impressive front running style. The defending champ in the Agassiz, Brinello cruised home to victory under light handling from Jockey Mark Anderson.
2007 Manitoba bred two year old champion, Eight By Ten, rallied to grab the place position while the Lorna Gray trained Canadian Idol rounded out the top three. Brinello covered the one mile distance in a very sharp time of 137.4 and returned $ 2.10 to win for a $ 2.00 wager.
